Overview: 

This course introduces students to the theory and practice of observation in the early years setting. It recognizes the need for the early childhood professional to know how to observe children between 0-6 years old, record the data, interpret the information, use the knowledge and share the findings. Students will be introduced to the different observation techniques, and will be challenged to apply theoretical knowledge in order to understand and interpret the observations. Ethics, objectivity and professionalism in observation are emphasized. Students in this course will also reflect on their experience of being an observer and in observing children between 0-6 years old.
